WCM

(Water Closet Multrum)

The WCM is the original central composting unit and was first introduced in 1979. This dependable, rugged and highly successful system, has the same three chambers and large Bio- drum as the EXCEL family of units. The main difference is that with central toilet systems the waste enders the Bio-drum through a 3" inlet pipe connected to one or more 1 pint flush toilets. The small amount of extra flushing water keeps the compost on central units very moist, which means that composting speeds and hence capacity, tend to be even greater than on self contained units. Peat mix is added to the Bio-drum on the WCM either by removing the access door on the front of the unit, or by flushing it down the toilet. The vent and drain on the WCM are located at the rear, which makes this unit the obvious choice for installation in a basement with the vent going through or up the wall. The WCM is 31" high, but additional clearance is required to accommocate the 3" waste inlet pipe on the top of the unit.

Evaporating capacity of the WCM can be up to 2 gallons per day, depending on climatic conditions, and on the volume, warmth, and absorption capacity of the compost. This may be insufficient, and the drain hose provided, should be connected to the 1" drain at the reat of the unit. Excess liquid, if any should be collected and/or disposed of in an approved facility such as a leach field, old septic system, holding tank or drain pit.

WCM-AE

(Water Closet Multrum)

The WCM is the original central composting unit and was first introduced in 1979. In the mid 1980's we started running into folks who wanted the higher capacity of an electric composting toilet (the "Sun-Mar XL" or "WCM"), but didn't have a constant 110 volt electric supply. At that time our best (and only) option was to recommend a non-electric unit (the NE or WCM-NE). Then, in 1990, the light dawned. We realized that if we built a regular electric unit (complete with vent stack) and then added to it a non-electric vent stack; -we could have the best of both worlds. When 110 Volt power was available we had a fast, high capacity electric composting toilet, and when it wasn't, the unit reverted to non-electric mode. We decided to call it an "AE", which is the short form for alternative energy. So meet the "Sun-Mar WCM-AE". Peat mix is added to the Bio-drum on the WCM-AE either by removing the access door on the front of the unit, or by flushing it down the toilet. The vent and drain on the WCM are located at the rear, which makes this unit the obvious choice for installation in a basement with the vent going through or up the wall. The WCM-AE is 31" high, but additional clearance is required to accommocate the 3" waste inlet pipe on the top of the unit.

Evaporating capacity of the WCM-AE can be up to 2 gallons per day, depending on climatic conditions, and on the volume, warmth, and absorption capacity of the compost. This may be insufficient, and the drain hose provided, should be connected to the 1" drain at the reat of the unit. Excess liquid, if any should be collected and/or disposed of in an approved facility such as a leach field, old septic system, holding tank or drain pit.
